CETA vote in the European Parliament
Co-Chairs Reinhard Bütikofer and Monica Frassoni comment on the vote on the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) that took place in the European Parliament on 15 February. The European Green Party turns 13!
This week we have celebrated our 13th birthday! The European Green Party was founded on 22 Feb 2004, and was the first political party to form at a European level.

Thomas Edison supported fossil fuel divestment – in 1931!
On Tomas Edison’s 170th birthday, we explored how the man who invented electricity-intensive living was a supporter of renewable energy and divestment from coal, oil and gas. More than one hundred years ago, Edison and many of his peers were already worried about the unsustainability of fossil fuels and the devastating impact its abundant use would have.
#EUIdeasLab – Let’s draw the future
On February 3-5, the European Green Party organized in Brussels the first “European Ideas LAB”, together with the Greens-EFA Group in the European Parliament. More than 300 “change-makers”, coming from almost 150 organizations from the four corners of Europe, discussed, listened and developed innovative ideas to work on together with Greens-EFA Members of the European Parliament. Yannick Jadot joins a united front for the upcoming Presidential elections in France
Green Party candidate for French President, Yannick Jadot, announced last week that he is withdrawing from the presidential race and will give his support to Benoît Hamon in the elections. This after reaching what he called a marvellous agreement, which includes an exit from nuclear energy within 25 years, the promotion of renewables, the protection of bio-diversity, an exit from pesticides, a revitalisation of democracy, the protection of health and jobs, and a fight for social justice, among others READ MORE
